OCLC Delimiter
What is this?
Different systems have chosen different symbols to display as MARC subfield delimiters. Alma's Metadata Editor uses ‡ (Double Dagger) or $$. OCLC Connexion uses the symbol ǂ (Latin Letter Alveolar Click).
When is this trouble?
If your Alma bib records include a Connexion delimiter, it may be a sign that a field was pasted into a bib record from Connexion. Such fields may display or index strangely.
How to Find
If you are in Alma, there is an analysis to search for this issue in the "Looking for Trouble" folder. Go to the "Bibliographic" folder and look for the "OCLC Delimiter" analysis. This analysis searches many common fields such as title, author, subjects, etc. for the OCLC delimiter character.
